INTRO: Tinplate toys are now mainly produced in China, Czech Republic, Germany and India. The history of these toys goes back to mid 19th century Germany, with manufacturing starting in France, Spain, USA and Japan later on. Most Robot designs originate from Japan, high quality copies now come from China. This century German and Japanese manufacturers started producing top quality toys again, riding the latest wave of Tinplate Toy revival.
Collectors should realise that tinplate toys are very basic, primitive toys and crudely finished. The majority of these toys are for Collectors only and are not to be offered to children and certainly not to be played with by children.
