Golden Arrow - Irving-Napier Special 1929 Record Car - SKU669 #669
Schylling copy of original wind-up tin toy which was made between 1930 and 1940 by Kingsbury Toys of New Hampshire. The original toy fetches a high price whenever one comes up for sale, recently a few have been spotted on eBay. This Schylling model is excellent and has correctly shaped hubcaps.
(Major) Henry O'Neal de Hane Segrave drove the Golden Arrow (known as the Irving-Napier Special at the time) to a land speed record of 231.567 mph at Daytona Beach on 11th March 1929.
Magnificent tinplate model of this legendary land speed record car of 1929, which comes in a well decorated box with background information. Car has a wind up clockwork motor and adjustable front wheels. Rubber protective bumper strip at the front. Length: 20inches/50.5cm.

The Golden Arrow only performed once, powered by a 900 bhp 23.9 litre Napier Lion 12-cylinder aero engine. The car is now a museum piece, Henry Segrave was knighted upon his return.
