Sunbeam 1927 Land Speed Record Car - Schylling - SKU927 #927
It was a beautiful sunny day at Daytona Beach on March 29th 1927.... This is how the description of this Record Breaking Sunbeam starts at the back of the well decorated box of the 28cm/11in long tinplate model.
The car is wind-up clockwork driven, an original Schylling product, not a 'St John' copy, supplied with a small booklet with some more information and images.
At 203.792mph, (Major) Henry O'Neal de Hane Segrave was the first man to brake the 200mph barrier with this flaming red 1000 BHP Sunbeam. He would later become the driver of the 1929 land speed record breaking Irving-Napier Special 'Golden Arrow' and was subsequently knighted for his effort.
